[So. Those strange murders around Somarium. Ema's been trying to keep up with them as best she can, but well, when you're not as in the loop on murders as you were back home, it's hard to get all the information you want or think you need. It's even harder to get to the crime scene and investigate for yourself here, buuuuut! Ema found out where the most recent body was discovered, and that there weren't as many officers out guarding the scene as there used to be. Which means prime time for investigation. There's just one thing that's missing--]

Hey, FBI Guy! You've heard about those murders that have been happening here, right? [Well, maybe he hadn't. But it was worth a shot asking him either way, she thought!]

[Of course Little Guy knew about it. He'd been curious to know if anyone was working on finding the killer, or if they took to sitting around on their asses as he'd seen so many American police stations do until the FBI took over the case.]

...You can just call me "Agent," you know. [Not Little Guy. He's not giving out his nickname.]

Yeah, I've heard about it. Why?

[And now he's even more curious to know why she brought it up. Hopefully it hasn't involved anyone he's met...]

[Agent works, maybe next time she'd use that. FBI Guy got his attention, didn't it? But okay, he's interested! Now on to step two]

I guess they found another body a few days ago. I'm not sure exactly how long ago it was, but that part doesn't matter as much.

[no, the more important part was--]

I think I found where they found the body, though! [Which is basically code for "let's go investigate," naturally.]

[Little Guy takes this information as he would news of a new case to solve: without empathy and as just another part of the day.]

I see. And they think it's the same-?

..Hang on. How did you figure that out?

[Have they even released that information? Ema... What did you do...]

It's hard not to notice when there's a bunch of detectives out in the open somewhere, you know! [and she... hangs around detectives and others that have an in with the police force. No judging, okay.]

Do you want to investigate the scene of the crime? Maybe there's something there they overlooked that'll help with the case! [though, she hasn't really seen any of the evidence from the other murders, so she doesn't have much of an idea as to what's 'helpful' there and what isn't. But that's just a minor detail.]

[Okay. The Agent looks satisfied. So long as she didn't break into a lab and steal classified information "For Science!", because if that were the case, he doesn't want to take the fall for it. He doesn't think she's lying, though.]

Investigate? If we find something, what authority would we have to submit it as evidence? I'm not sure what a United States FBI badge counts for in these parts.

[With how serious the Agent sounds, it seems as though he's blowing off her idea. But then:]

Sure, let's do it. You want something done right, do it yourself. Isn't that what they say? [Too many cases have been ruined by incompetence. They may as well give it a shot. Identifying the killer is, to the Agent, more important than it being recognized legally. ~~And Naomi became a Doctor here, after all.~~]

[See, at first, she does look a bit down when it seems like he doesn't want to come with her, but then--that would be a yes! And she's back to being a whole lot happier and more excited than most people probably would be at the prospect of investigating a crime scene.]

Yes, that's exactly what they say! I'm sure Mr. Edgeworth won't mind if we have a look around if any officers catch us there.

[Nothing wrong with a little healthy enthusiasm, right?]

It isn't as though it's your first time at a crime scene, right? You told me you had helped solve cases before. You're definitely qualified.

[And if his badge isn't enough, if she has a friend that can bail them out, even better.

...Sure, maybe he's buttering her up just a bit, but. He's looking forward to getting back into action, himself. Life's too boring to stay sitting down.]

So, where is this place?

[See, she doesn't mind being buttered up at all. If she even noticed that was what he was doing, since that part was definitely still up for debate. She's just genuinely excited to have someone willing to go investigate a murder scene with her. Investigating when she technically shouldn't be around there isn't anything new to her, after all. ~~What do you mean attorneys aren't supposed to investigate things first hand, phoenix~~]

It's over by the fountain in Espoir! I don't know if you know where that is, though. Do you?

I haven't been there myself, no, but I know where that is. [At Derek's suggestion, he took the time to go over the map since he arrived, but scenic small villages aren't his thing. There goes its reputation for being a quiet place, anyway.]

The fountain dead centre, right? That'd make the scene of the crime near the plaza... Seems like a hard place to kill someone without attracting attention. Sure that's the right spot?

[He's not doubting her, it's just his job to ask these sorts of questions.]

It is, yes! And that's what makes it interesting, you know?

[Because it is out in the open, and if the scene of the murder really was that fountain, it'd give them a clue about how their killer thinks, in a way.]

But just because the body was found there doesn't mean that's where they were killed. I don't have too many notes on it yet, but there's always the possibility they moved the body there after the fact, right?
